But in our experience and this is true with any language not just Spanish, there are a few key elements that come into play.

1.)    How good the learning materials are, audio, visual, step by step, clear, easy to follow etc…

2.)    How you prefer to learn, what style of teaching you are most comfortable with and the pace in which you can absorb and take in the lessons.

3.)    Your learning environment, how much concentration or distractions you have, are you comfortable in your surrounds and with the people you are learning from and learning with? Do you want learn from home at your own leisure with no pressure, in a class room where you will be tested and have assignments, or on location, maybe a short trip to Spain for an intensive course immersed with the local Spanish people and culture, or many be all 3…..

4.)    Your own skill level and how hard you want to work, this is related to the pace of teaching and language course structure.

Remember everyone is unique and all learn at different paces so set yourself small manageable goals and targets and most of all make it fun, if its fun you will find you will enjoy learning the language and will pick it up a lot quicker.

Another tip is to learn with a friend or colleague, find other who want to learn Spanish and do it together. Then test each other regular, it get a little competitive and you will want to impress therefore will learn a lot faster.

Use your mobile phone

A lot of mobile phones enable you to change the language in the menus simply by switching your display language to Spanish, you’ll be exposed to the language regularly.

You can still read and write text messages in English, but everything else on your phone will be in Spanish. After a while, you will learn straightaway what words mean, and even just looking at the language a few times a day times a day will be beneficial.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything at first just try and pick out words and the gist of the story. A great way is to read the same news report in English and Spanish to understand what its about.

Mingle with Spanish speaking people

Most people who get to a fluent level speaking in a foreign language do so by living in the particular county of the language they are studying, in cafes, on holiday, at collage etc… with friends and other people who are learning Spanish or online for example…..

Just try to get Spanish involved with day to day activities and you will be amazed at how quickly you can pick up Spanish phrases and start to really learn the how to speak Spanish fast.
